Sorry there have been no postings for quite some time… I am working on a commission piece that the client is giving as a gift, so it must remain a secret. I will post the final result here, with all of the details and photos. Won’t be much longer… I have also completed the previous project, just haven’t put a finish on it to take final pictures for posting. Soon….

I’ve started out creating the bow flag. The trick is to catch all of the tonal variations in the flags color…

I like the look of the flag in this photo:

The background is too complex though… I want a more serene look.

I like the background in this picture more, but I don’t like the flag as much…

The boathouse has a lot of character.

So, because I am not limited to just what a picture shows, I decided to merge the two pictures together to make this image:

Finally done with this new design… the holidays really slowed the creation of this one…

Here are the plaques with their final coat of finish…

The grainpatterns really popped once the glossy finish is on…

Over 6 coats of resin… very glossy.

Waiting for the first coats of finish to dry on the plaques… now to pick the Chris Craft back up.

Metal trim, screws etc all done.

Now on to the water, treeline and sky.
Things will really start to come together now…

Bonded the marquetry to the lumber and now it’s time to cut the ends to shape and router the edges.

The wood works really well and comes out with a very clean cut…

Now for a finish…
